Evolution Guidelines
1. Only Staff Members can make a trainer's pokemon evolve. When a pokemon gains enough levels to evolve, the current thread moderator will post something along the lines of:Bulbasaur gained 2 levels! A bright light surrounded it and it started to change. Bulbasaur is evolving!
2. If you DON'T want your pokemon to evolve, then you can simply make your pokemon refuse the evolution in your next post. Like this:Mod:
Bulbasaur gained 2 levels! A bright light surrounded it and it started to change. Bulbasaur is evolving!
Member:
Bulbasaur clentched its teeth and shook for a moment, dispelling the light before it had changed. It didn't want to evolve yet.
3. For stone evolutions, all you need to do is make your pokemon hold the stone and a staff member will post something along the lines of:Upon being touched by the Thunderstone, Eevee began to glow. Eevee is evolving!
4. For Movepool-based evolutions, the roleplayer will have to show the pokemon using its attack in battle and it will have to level up. For example:Member:
Piloswine made the ground shake as it called forth the power of its newly-masterd move, Ancientpower!
-insert battle-winning here-
Mod:
Piloswine gained 1 level! A bright light enveloped the pokemon and it began to change. Piloswine is evolving!
5. For happiness-based evolutions, there are a few things to keep in mind:-How many battles has the pokemon won and how many has it lost? For every battle won, +1 for the pokemon's overall happiness. For every battle lost -1 for the pokemon's overall happiness.
-How many special treats (certain berries, rare candies, vitamins, and other specially marked food) has the pokemon received? For Vitamins (Zinc/Calcium/HP Up/Iron/Protein/Carbos/PP Up) add +5 to the pokemon's overall happiness.
For Certain Berries (Grepa Berry, Hondew Berry, Kelpsy Berry, Pomeg Berry, Qualot Berry, and Tamato Berry) add +5 to the pokemon's overall happiness.
For Rare Candies add +5 to the pokemon's overall happiness.
For Poffins add +5 to the pokemon's overall happiness.
-How many times has the pokemon been massaged, pet, etc.? For every massage/etc. add +10 to the pokemon's overall happiness. (Note that average trainers can't effectively give massages to pokemon, so one must go to the breeders area in the 'Special areas' category. There is a special pokemon breeder who gives one of each trainers' pokemon one massage a month.)
-How many Gym Battles has the pokemon been used in? For every Gym Battle add +1 to the pokemon's overall happiness.
-How many Routes has the pokemon traveled with the trainer? For every COMPLETE route add +5 to the pokemon's overall happiness.
-How often is the trainer abusive, cruel, or just gets in a fight with the pokemon? For every one of these -10 from the pokemon's overall happiness.
A pokemon that evolves through happiness will start out with a 'Happiness Counter' that will be added onto/subtracted from every time one of these events happens. Once the Happiness Counter reaches 100 the pokemon is ready to evolve. Unlike in the games, the pokemon in question DOES NOT need to level-up to trigger the evolution process. The pokemon may evolve right after it reaches 100% happiness. Members, be sure to put in the post that the pokemon's full happiness has been reached. Here's an example:
Member:
The trainer gave his golbat the last of the Kelpsy berries, knowing that it made the bat-pokemon incredibly happy to eat them. The golbat munched gleefully on the tastey treat.
((That makes Golbat's happiness 100!))
Mod:
The golbat began to glow. It's evolving!
6. For Location-Based evolutions, we're doing something a bit different. Instead of having the pokemon evolve at Mt. Coronet or at the Moss Rock or Ice Rock, there will be 'fragments' of these structures that a pokemon has to level-up while holding in order to evolve. These items will be called:
Moss Fragment (For evolving an Eevee into Leafeon)
Ice Fragment (For evolving an Eevee into Glaceon)
Coronet Shard (For evolving a Magneton into Magnezone and Nosepass into Probopass)
7. Trade-based evolutions will not exist here. Instead, if your pokemon evolves through a trade, it will have a certain level to reach before evolving. Likewise, if your pokemon needs to be traded holding an item, like Onix -> Steelix, then all you need to do is have Onix hold (or be near) the Metal Coat and level-up in order to trigger evolution.
